People somewhere in Europe on Jeju Island
Covid-19 made it almost impossible to travel abroad, causing most Koreans to travel locally. Therefore, many Koreans visit Jeju Island, expecting to see something exotic though. These photos were taken at an exhibition on Jeju Island that projects paintings of 'Van Gogh' on the empty space.
With white masks, people's faces become anonymous and white screens for projection. Despite the colorful and exotic scenery around, looking at photographs taken, I feel like the scenes are a bit hilarious and people look tired; Some of them seem lonely and others seem to be acting on a stage. They go to different places through multimedia, but they are still stuck in one place. It would be a scene where the desire to leave and the frustration that cannot do so collide.
